BSE and NSE Muhurat Trading: One-Hour Special Session on Diwali 2024 to Mark New Samvat Year

In celebration of Diwali, the leading stock exchanges BSE and NSE will conduct a special one-hour ‘Muhurat Trading’ session on November 1, marking the beginning of the new Samvat year, 2081. This symbolic trading session will take place from 6 PM to 7 PM and will encompass various segments, including equity, commodity derivatives, currency derivatives, equity futures & options, and securities lending & borrowing (SLB).

While the stock markets will be closed for regular trading on Diwali, this special trading window is seen as an auspicious time for investors, as trading during the ‘Muhurat’ hour is traditionally believed to bring prosperity and financial growth. The pre-opening session will start at 5:45 PM and run until 6:00 PM.

Market analysts note that Diwali is considered an ideal time to embark on new ventures. Although the one-hour trading session can be quite volatile, the emphasis is often more on the symbolic gesture of participating in the market than on seeking immediate profitability. Investors look forward to this opportunity, believing that engaging in Muhurat Trading can benefit them throughout the year.
