CenterPoint Energy Activates Emergency Operations Center in Preparation for Winter Storm Enzo in Greater Houston Area

CenterPoint Energy has activated its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in preparation for Winter Storm Enzo, expected to bring snow, ice, and freezing temperatures to the Greater Houston area. The company is coordinating with local and state partners to manage storm impacts and has mobilized around 3,000 personnel, including 1,200 mutual aid workers, to assist with potential outages. CenterPoint is deploying four small generators to power local warming centers and is urging customers to avoid travel and stay safe.

The company has been preparing for the storm since the previous week, including implementing cold weather plans, inspecting equipment, and preparing critical infrastructure. The Energy Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has issued a weather watch, but grid conditions are expected to be normal. Customers are encouraged to stay informed through CenterPoint’s communication channels and are advised to enroll in the Power Alert Service® for updates.
