U.S. Stock Markets to Remain Open on Veterans Day, November 11, 2024

On Veterans Day, November 11, 2024, the U.S. stock markets, including the Dow Jones, S&P 500, and Nasdaq Composite, will remain open for trading. Veterans Day is a federal holiday observed to honor U.S. military veterans, but unlike some other federal holidays, it is not a market holiday. The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq have been open on Veterans Day since 1954, with a brief two-minute pause observed before market opening to commemorate the occasion.

However, while the equity markets will be open, the bond markets will be closed, as per the recommendations of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), which follows the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s holiday calendar.
